National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Guidelines for Student Merit and Demerit Procedures and Conduct Assessments National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Guidelines for Student Merit and Demerit Procedures and Conduct Assessments Article 1 Student conduct assessments are based on the present Guidelines. Article 2 After the implement of the Guidelines, students’ conduct scores are no longer displayed on their report cards. Instead, students must apply for the issuance of a conduct score certificate as required. Article 3 The Guidelines outline standard, fair procedures for all departments when assessing student conduct. Student conduct scores are divided into five letter grades:

National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Implementation Regulations for Graduate Student Scholarships and Grants National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Implementation Regulations for Graduate Student Scholarships and Grants Approved at the 5th Administrative Meeting of the 2022–2023 Academic Year on February 22, 2023 Article 1 National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (hereinafter NYCU) hereby formulates the Implementation Regulations for Graduate Student Scholarships and Grants (hereafter the Regulations) in accordance with the Ministry of Education Regulations for Tuition and Fee Collection at Junior Colleges and Institutions of Higher Education. The purpose of the Regulations is to encourage exceptional performance among students, enable them to complete their studies with peace of mind, and motivate them to participate in on-campus teaching and other services. Article 2 Only current students, excluding in-service program students, are eligible for graduate student scholarships. Article 3 The scholarships and grants as described in the Regulations are divided into scholarships, grants, and labor-based remuneration for part-time assistants, all of which can be earned simultaneously by a student. 1. Scholarships and grants are used to reward outstanding graduate students and support those with economically disadvantages. They do not involve the responsibilities and considerations of employment relationships and are not remuneration for labor. 2. Labor-based remuneration for part-time assistants is provided to students who participate in teaching or other services of the colleges, departments, institutes, and degree programs of NYCU as teaching assistants, administrative assistants, research assistants, or in other part-time roles. Article 4 A given amount of the total tuition and fee revenue of NYCU and its other funding sources shall be set aside each year for graduate student scholarships and grants, with the funding budget subject to revisions in accordance with the revenue status for a given year. Article 5 All colleges and departments of NYCU shall formulate their own regulations for implementing graduate student scholarships and grants, including the standards and quotas for scholarships, grants, and labor-based remuneration for part-time assistants. Article 6 The funding of the scholarships and grants for each college shall include the expenses pertaining to labor and health insurance, labor pension, severance pay, and other expenses borne by the employer. Article 7 To safeguard the learning and labor rights of the students of NYCU, the regulations formulated by all colleges and departments shall comply with the Ministry of Education Guidelines for Safeguarding the Rights and Interests of Scholarship and Financial Aid Recipients in College of Above, Ministry of Labor Guiding Principles for Safeguarding the Labor Rights and Benefits of Part-time Assistants in the Tertiary Education, and the relevant guidelines and regulations of NYCU. Article 8 The Regulations and any amendments thereto shall take effect upon their approval at an Administrative Meeting.

National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Regulations for Student Part-time Work Program National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Regulations for Student Part-time Work Program Approved at the 5th Administrative Meeting of the 2022–2023 Academic Year on February 22, 2023 Article 1 National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (hereinafter NYCU) hereby formulates the Regulations for the Student Part-time Work Program (hereafter the Regulations) to foster the independent spirit of its students, expand their life learning experience, and support its various provisional tasks. Article 2 The student part-time work program, in principle, involves designated tasks such as assisting on-campus units with various activities, documentation and administration, and environmental maintenance but only insofar as not to hinder the academic, physical, and mental development of students. Students may not be absent from class on the grounds of participating in student part-time work activities. Article 3 Part-time work qualification: 1. Applicants must be current students of NYCU. 2. During the part-time work period, the qualifications of students may be cancelled if they are prevented from further participation in the part-time work activities because of justifiable causes, illness, suspension from school, or withdrawal from school. 3. For fresh graduates, the part-time work period shall last until the end of the semester (June). Article 4 Part-time work application procedure: 1. Relevant NYCU units shall determine their own part-time work quota on the basis of their annual part-time work budget and actual operational needs. 2. Part-time work students shall be selected in an open manner, with the employing unit reviewing and selecting the best candidates in accordance with their needs. 3. Students are required to submit an application to the part-time work unit, and they may be employed only with the approval of the supervisor of the unit. 4. Upon establishing an employment relationship, the part-time work unit and employed students are required to sign a labor contract in accordance with relevant regulations. Article 5 The fund allocation standards for each part-time work unit are as follows: 1. The amount allocated by each unit shall be based on the part-time work expenditure of the unit in the previous year. 2. Insurance premiums and pension provisions deriving from the establishment of the employment relationship shall be paid out of allocated part-time work funds, with the shortfall being borne by the part-time work unit. Article 6 Part-time work remuneration standard (hour-based): 1. Remuneration is based on the basic hourly wage stipulated by the Ministry of Labor. 2. If a part-time work student undertakes a project or task-based job that is recognized by the employing unit, their remuneration may be increased at the discretion of the employing unit to a maximum of twice the aforementioned basic hourly wage. Article 7 Part-time work hours and write-off: 1. To save on premium costs, in principle, the number of part-time students employed should be minimized while assigning more number of part-time work hours. Each employer shall mandate their respective job content. 2. Part-time work remuneration shall be paid before the 10th day of the follow-up month on the basis of the actual number of hours worked. Article 8 An employing unit may prioritize students who are economically disadvantaged on the basis of the part-time work. Article 9 All employers shall be responsible for supervising and thoroughly assessing the performance of the part-time work students to ensure comprehensive management. Article 10 The Regulations and any amendments thereto shall take effect upon their approval at an Administrative Meeting.

National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Student Leave Regulations Types of leave:  Sick leave (including outbreak prevention leave)  Personal leave  Bereavement leave  Official leave  Maternity (paternity) leave  Menstrual leave  Marriage leave  Indigenous ceremonial leave  Mental health leave  Leave regulations:  For all types of leave except menstrual leave and mental health leave, relevant proof must be submitted. However, during examination periods, leave shall be handled in accordance with Subparagraph 3, Paragraph 1, Article 3, of the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Regulations on Student Leave (hereinafter the Regulations). Applications for leave, excluding applications for sick leave and maternity (paternity) leave, shall be submitted for approval in advance. If a student cannot do so beforehand because of special circumstances, they shall complete the application procedure within three days following their final day of absence. Students who cannot apply for sick leave may entrust another student to do so. To apply for official leave, relevant documentary proof, such as photocopies of official documents approved by the competent authority, must be submitted. Upon approval, the duration of official leave shall be deemed as normal attendance. Students are entitled to one day of menstrual leave every month. To apply for indigenous ceremonial leave, a household registration transcript or a notice from the government specifying the date of each indigenous group’s ceremonies must be submitted. Students are entitled to one day of indigenous ceremonial leave for each indigenous group. Students who experience difficulties attending classes because of reasons related to psychological or mental health may apply for mental health leave. Leave procedure and authority to approve leave: Leave applications shall be submitted through the Student Leave Management System or by using the Student Leave Form under special circumstances. An applicant shall specify details such as the duration of leave and the reasons for leave in the form, attach supporting documents, and obtain the approval of their course instructor. Applications for 7 or fewer days of leave shall be approved by the Department Chair; applications for 8 or more days of leave shall be approved by the Dean of Student Affairs. (2) Applications for mental health leave may be directly submitted through the Student Leave Management System and shall be filed for reference by the 1st and 2nd Divisions of Student Assistance; the Student Leave Management System shall automatically issue a letter of notification to a student’s mentor and course instructor to ensure that the student receives proper support. If necessary, the student shall be referred to the Mental Health and Counseling Center, where they can receive care and assistance from psychologists. If a student applies for mental health leave for the second time in a semester or applies to take more than two days off to address mental health needs, the Student Leave Management System shall issue a letter of notification to the Mental Health and Counseling Center regarding follow-up care. (3) Students are generally not allowed to take leave during the midterm and final exam periods of the university. However, exceptions may be made for a student who cannot attend an exam because of a severe illness, emergency, or unforeseen contingency. In such cases, students must provide relevant supporting documents when submitting their leave application. The course instructors and the director of an academic unit have the authority to approve applications to take leave during the midterm and final exam period. (4) After a leave approval is granted, the Student Leave Management System automatically issues a letter of notification to the student applicant and their course instructor, mentor, and department chair. (5) Students who apply for leave by using the Student Leave Application Form shall submit their approved application to the 1st and 2nd Divisions of Student Assistance for registration within three days. Failure to do so will result in a truancy record. 4. If a student returns to school before the end of their approved leave period, they may cancel their remaining leave at the 1st and 2nd Divisions of Student Assistance. If a student is absent from school without following the proper leave procedure or without receiving approval for their leave application, this situation shall result in a truancy record. 5. The Regulations and any amendments thereto shall take effect upon their approval at a Student Affairs Meeting.

Guidelines on National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Student Group Insurance Guidelines on National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Student Group Insurance Article 1 In accordance with Article 34 of the University Act, that each university shall arrange group insurance for its students, exercise the function of social support, and seek compensation for the financial loss students’ family encounters when the students are ill or experience accidents, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (hereinafter referred to as “NYCU”) established these guidelines. Article 2 Students with the student status (including student teachers) from NYCU may join the student group insurance (hereinafter referred to as the “insurance”) and become the insured.
